Essential Oils That Help Period Cramps

Although some girls are lucky enough not to experience any kind of discomfort during their periods, others tend to apprehend the day their periods come for the opposite reason. With medicine, we now have access to all kinds of painkillers, but what if you prefer to steer clear of those and use more natural sources instead? Take a look at these essential oils that can help you out!

Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint essential oil is known for its numerous properties including the ability to take away headaches due to its freshness. By breathing in peppermint essential oil once it is diluted, you get to enjoy deeper breathing techniques that make your muscles better oxygenated. Not only this, but your muscles also enjoy better blood flow which can help with menstruation pain that stems from painful muscle spasms.

Lavender Essential Oil

This oil is a great way to relax and reduce anxiety. When you have many stressors at once, you tend to be more tense. This can make your period pain more intense as the tension occurring makes muscle spasms more difficult to do. So, add a few drops to a carrier oil and spread it over your abdomen, or drop a few drops into a warm bath.

Cypress Essential Oil

This oil is known to help you flush out toxins and to reduce water retention that can contribute to bloating and pain. Mix it with a carrier oil like coconut oil and spread it on your abdomen.

Rose Essential Oil

Rose essential oil helps you sleep and reduces anxiety while also relieving menstrual cramps. It helps with inflammation and can therefore make cramping less intense. Try it out and see if it helps you!
Other essential oils that may help include copaiba for its anti-inflammatory properties, cinnamon for the same reason, and clary sage essential oil as it is a natural pain reliever. Although it may not work for everyone, itโ€™s a great new practice to try out!
